Motorcycle Tour Overview

We start our Motorcycle Tour from Chennai the home of Royal Enfield, after our bikes are delivered to our hotel based in Chennai we head south to Puducherry for our first night of our adventure, we then head west right across to the other side off India towards the Backwaters of Kerala, and visit the vast temples on-route, plus plenty of stops for that all important lunch and refreshments on the roadside, also you will see a different culture of the people of India as you ride around the south, O yes and don’t forget you will ride some of the highest roads and see the wonders that India has to offer and not forgetting a visit to the Tea Plantations to see how they harvest and produce the great english cup of tea.

Tamil Nadu, a South Indian state, is famed for its Dravidian-style Hindu temples. In Madurai, Meenakshi Amman Temple has high ‘gopuram’ towers ornamented with colourful figures. Chennai is known for the Royal Enfield Motorcycle Factory and the vast beaches including some famous landmarks 1644 colonial Fort St George.

ROYAL ENFIELD THE BEGINNING
The Enfield Cycle Company made motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines under the name Royal Enfield out of its works based at Redditch, Worcestershire. The legacy of weapons manufacture is reflected in the logo comprising the cannon, and the motto “Made like a gun”. Use of the brand name Royal Enfield was licensed by the Crown in 1890.

ROYAL ENFIELD’S EARLY YEARS
In 1909 Royal Enfield surprised the motorcycling world by introducing a small Motorcycle with a 2 ¼ HP V twin Motosacoche engine of Swiss origin. In 1911 the next model was powered by a 2 ¾ HP engine and boasted of the well known Enfield 2-speed gear. In 1912 came the JAP 6 HP 770 CC V twin with a sidecar combination. It was this motorcycle which made Enfield a household name. 1914 saw the 3 HP motorcycles this time with Enfield’s own engine which now had the standardised Enfield paint scheme of black enamelled parts and green tank with gold trim.

The West Coast of Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast of Kerala state in southern India a state on India’s tropical Malabar Coast, has nearly 600km of Arabian Sea shoreline. It’s known for its palm-lined beaches and backwaters, a network of canals. Inland are the Western Ghats, mountains whose slopes support tea, coffee and spice plantations as well as wildlife. National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers and off coarse not forgetting a great overnight stay on a houseboat.

Alleppey Backwater Houseboat Tour

In Alleppey, the crew welcomes you aboard your houseboat and sets out on a leisurely cruise through the scenic Kerala backwaters. Catch sight of picturesque villages, paddy fields and lush vegetation, and hear informative commentary about the region from your guide.

Your crew serves up a breakfast, buffet lunch and evening dinner on board the boat as we sail up the inner waters with a nice cool beer, this is a chance to try the cuisine of Kerala from fresh vegetable dishes, fish, chicken, rice, and more, and yes we will even stay overnight on the houseboat, what a life of piece.
